Why I want to meet stanley kubrick
Oh, if I only could. His films have had such a profound effect on me: in what I’ve chosen to do with my life, in what I see, in how I practice an aesthetic.
Here’s to you, Mr. Kubrick.

I met her YEARS ago – like 1986 or so – when the SugarCubes were touring Upstate New York. I think it was Darien Lake. I was working for a local radio station there, and met she and the band. Long time ago. Since then I’ve been a really big fan, and would love to meet her now – she’s become such a powerful and unique voice in music.
Kinda. Briefly.
He came to a party at 2005’s Sundance Film Festival, for a film I was working on called “Police Beat.”
He was very gracious! I wish I had had more time to talk to him. But, he was swarmed by fans, just like all the celebs in Sundance.
I met Mr. Robbins at an Empty Space fundraiser, about, oh god, like 7 years ago. He was very kind, and really entertained the crowd of patrons there. Cool guy.
Rob West and I (also Rob West) have robwest.com and robwest.org, respectively. I’ve checked in on his website from time to time, and finally, just today, he wrote me a message on 43F!
I’ve always wanted to meet this guy – because he and I have so many similar interests, and a very similar name. ;-)
Because I get real, real misty every time I see someone list both “techie” and “English Major” – both of which I am.
